Trip to Chicago 3

We run Montana state so far :)
Yes yes, Montana state is massive broad!
Second day at the Amtrak, I had a cheese burger for dinner, and take a Trails & Rails again.

Well, It was not bad.
After dinner, volunteer changed to another person, his name is Don. The guy who is in this photo. He was so funny and good at explain related to Amtrak and nature.

Before get sleep, I met a man who's name is Bill. We talk about my trip.
I told him I'm going to go to Chicago, but I didn't decide where to go. He gave me an advice about trip to the Chicago because he live in the Chicago! hahahaha.

Also Don give me an advice about trip by Amtrak. I told him I'm planning ride 'Coast starlight' and then he said take a flight to Denver, and ride Zypher and Coast starlight. He told me 'You can see whole landscape of California' and I reminded.

Third day, I tried breakfast in the dinning car, I ordered 'French toast'.
Well, it's expensive and..... not good taste. No worth. I don't like it.

We passed Minneapolis MN,
 Winona MN,
 and Dells WI.

So, Finally, I arrived CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY! It takes almost 50 hours!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!
But, as you know, it was fun. Seriously!

After arrived Chicago, I take a 'L' to get to hostel.
And this is L train's platform.
Chicago has really good public transportation. It's really old and old.(Second oldest train system in the U.S.)
The 'L' is short form of 'Elevated'. Because almost parts are elevated.
If you watched the movie 'Batman Begins', maybe you remembered scene where Rachel attacked from armed man. There is one of stations of the L!
'L' station
After unpack at the hostel, I showered :) I was so excited because I can't shower almost two days! Anyways, I got a special priced ticket to Willis Tower (also known as Sears Tower) only for student guests who stayed in the IH hostel.

I went to Willis Tower! The Willis Tower is the tallest building in the U.S.!!!!! And the seventh-tallest freestanding structure in the world! Can you imagine? Totally DIZZY!
This photo is taken at the Willis Tower observatory.
I was so impressed when I saw this nightscape.

Isn't it wonderful?

And, this is one of funny things in this observatory.
The building's west side has special space. This glass balcony's floor is transparent glass. Yeah, it's kind a scary!

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Trip to Chicago 2

During the night, we passed Washington state and Idaho state.
Second day, we run Montana state. To me, Montana state was massive broad and I felt that America is really huge. The train didn't stop much. Just run and run all the day, but we were still in Montana state.
I usually stayed at view train. Their seat is really comfortable, and during the afternoon they held Trails & Rails.
In Empire builder, at the view train, has a program named 'Trails & Rails' http://www.amtrak.com/trails-rails-heritage-appreciation-during-your-train-ride
Trails & Rails is an innovative partnership program between the National Park Service and Amtrak, providing rail passengers with educational opportunities that foster an appreciation of a selected region's natural and cultural heritage. It also renews the long tradition of connecting railroads with National Parks. -From Amtrak.com
The man who is in the middle of this photo is Trails & Rails volunteer.
And this photo is my table :) They gave me maps
At Trails & Rails, who talk to passengers is volunteer. However they had great knowledge! History, geography, another things, and even they have good sense at humor. I learned a lot of things about this route and Montana state's nature from them. At that time, I'm not sure that I understood perfectly, but I think I got 70% :p.

Sleeping Native American
This photo is about Sleeping Native American. Well it's not good photo, but you can imagine. If you move more right side, it looks sleeping man. Can't find? Okay let me explain about this photo. The right side is head, and his hand is gathering in middle, and the left part is his foot. Can you imagine? I thought it's brilliant.

By the way, my next seat was a guy :9 At each passenger's upside seat, we have a tag which shows where is this passenger's destination. His destination was Chicago too. However I'm shy of strangers, and maybe he also like me. So we didn't talk each other. It was so funny. When the night, we stuck both side's end to don't touch each other. Finally every night we fall apart to another empty seat. And then morning, we were back our seat LOL.

Be continued.

Trip to Chicago 1

Hi guys, let's talk about my trip to Chicago.
My belief is 'Experience as possible as I can'. So I want to experience a lot of things during in the U.S.. And then, I decide to go to Chicago by Amtrak.
Actually, it takes 48 hours from Portland to Chicago. Yeah. I know It's crazy. However, I did it by my self!

What I ride train line's name is 'Empire builder'
It starts Seattle/Portland, and two trains combine at Spokane,WA. (I think it happened at midnight) and then go to east.

First, I booked ticket. But departure date is too close, there's no berth. So I reserved coach seat. Well, the coach seat was not bad. If it is an airplane, that seat is probably counted as business class. But it's not good for sleep :( (During the night, Coach train is really, really, seriously cold)
Coach seat
August 28th, 4:45 pm. was departure time. But it delayed almost 2 hours :( (In the U.S., on the train road, people are the last. Why? there is a lot of politics and economic things are complex) Anyway, Amtrak moved!!!

First day, we run Washington state and during night, we passed Idaho state, and entered Montana state.

Be countinued :)

First Post!

Hi there, this is my first post. Before starting post, I apologize about this messy post because I'm soooooooo nervous about writing post in ENGLISH!!!!!! Ahhhhhhh

I'm pretty mind-changing-easy person, so maybe after one week, I could change my blog's title :p
So, don't afraid that if this blog title changed after one week.
hmmm I'm not sure yet what to post in this whole new blog.

Maybe, I'll post about
  • My life in Portland
  • Travel log
  • Eat log
  • Grocery store tour log
  • Tea / Coffee log
  • My hobby (like a review of comics, dramas, etc.)
  • And if I have enough time, I'll post about myself and talk about life in my country

Some of you wonder why this blog address is 'Marron parfait'.
Marron parfait is a name of black tea and this tea is my favorite! I got this from my friend, but this tea is in discontinue line. I'm so sad about that.
This address is some blogger's review and photo about this tea.
